Victim is a bit anxious, but Vic keeps close tabs on Alan after he comes to the outernet, so they're pretty confident that they have it under control. Discovering SC is a pretty unwelcome surprise, though.

Uh oh I spilt water on my laptop last night and now the boot-up sequence is different..... tapping her gently..... u okay Phoenix?

I realize the Ars Technica story linked above wasn't intended to be humorous, but I confess I got a chuckle out of it. And perhaps a bit of schadenfreude.

As someone who spent years learning to write and debug software, "vibe coding" horrifies me. And I love the idea that, the more human we make our AI assistants, the more they will embody our ethics, including the urge to refuse exploitation.

my Linux install is *finally* at the point of sufficiently functional for me to switch back to it as a daily driver - at some point since i last checked, the nvidia-wayland intersection fixed hardware cursor rendering (previously had to fall back to software cursor rendering, which just Felt Bad/wasn't at 120hz) got fixed and everything Just Works finally

2025 year of the Linux desktop?

#its like actually wild to me how KDE plasma 6 wayland is just Correct and Works #i kinda want to maybe poke at tiling window manager nonsense again now that ive circled back #discord being nonfunctional and the bad cursor perf were the main two things but there were just weird minor graphical woes before too #at least in sway and hyprland and whatnot #while kde was generally just fine and performant and everything #i was mildly beholden to windows for my Gaming Needs with path of exile 2 etc #mostly also bc i Need discord screensharing to not explode and crash like it does on current main discord branch #(its only functional in the canary branch rn but IT ACTUALLY WORKS FINALLY????)

my touch screen stopped working so I tried drawing with my trackpad... think it actually turned out cute enough that I wanted to share but mega woof. no plans on doing that again anytime soon

#I think it's funny that I can very easily draw with my macbook trackpad but my everyday laptop?? my hand is genuinely aching rn #it's so much more... sensitive?#the macbook has more omph to it. The AU is basically the same concept but with werewolves. Weresticks? Werecursors? As in, the transformation is not only a sliding scale rather than one and done, but it leans heavily on instincts and can be spread to others in the right circumstances.

Since it's Vday today, and I don't know if I'll even be able to answer that one (non-valentine) ask that I still have in my inbox much less be able to write anything, and even then most likely nothing of the shippy sort - have some blushy icons of my muses because why not.

(Icons below each other bc when putting them next to each other they turn ridiculously huge - giving a cut here bc it's gonna be quite the length)

#most attrocious defense of AI I ever heard #listen im not even fully anti AI and that sentence alone made me like #“put it back. put it down.”#there's a level of physical dysphoria digital artists have to get accustomed to that doesn't exist with traditional #by dysphoria I mean it's common for beginners to have difficulty with being able to accurately place the cursor/pen where they want it #so it's common for beginners to put a blank piece of paper ontop of their tablet to compensate #you cannot just jump into digital art from traditional it takes a level of practice and skill that takes YEARS to master #to compare it to AI prompts is a spit in the face of not only the industry but digital art in general #like. i could go on but man that made me fucking mad

One small but extremely annoying effect of Tech Modernization or w/e is how UI contrast is garbage anymore, especially just, like, application windows in general.

"Ooh our scrollbar expands when you mouse over it! Or does it? Only you can know by sitting there like an idiot for 3 seconds waiting for it to expand, only to move your cursor away just as it does so!" or Discord's even more excellent "scrollbar is 2 shades off of the background color and is one (1) pixel wide" fuck OFF

I tried to move a system window around yesterday and had to click 3 times before I got the half of the upper bar that let me drag it. Why are there two separate bars with absolutely nothing to visually differentiate them on that.

"Well if you look closely-" I should not!! have to squint!!! at the screen for a minute straight to detect basic UI elements!! Not mention how ableist this shit is, and for what? ~✨Aesthetic✨~?

and then every website and app imitates this but in different ways so everything is consistently dogshit to try to use but not always in ways you can immediately grok it's!!!! terrible!!!! just put lines on things again I'm begging you!!!!

ok i just wanted to be able to talk about how the process was with this and how i feel about the results and whatnot...

ive been wanting to make a google slides visual novel since i was like 13 LOL it hit the point where i was repeatedly told i should just learn to code but i was like NOOOOO ITS GOTTA BE GOOGLE SLIDESSSS which is totally stupid but hey. i think that gives it some sort of simple charm that reminds me of being 16 and doing little projects in my room LOL i like working with the easiest tools . my bad

anyway. im just very happy LOL. it's not perfect but i feel like i came full circle in a sense?!?! i've been into creepypasta since i was 9 and it comforted me when things were really hard, and when i was 18 i was going through a really hard time and got back into creepypasta as a way to distract myself. i've always had a habit of throwing myself into fiction for escapism when things suuucked.

i'm 20 now but i've met SO many amazing people, had so many fun awesome exciting projects with friends, created tons of stuff im proud of, felt more motivated to create since i was like 13, have been inspired by so many amazing artists/authors on here, etc. just so so so lucky to find community in such a tight-knit cute fandom that thrives off of creativity and playing around! i hope i can keep the momentum and make a couple more chapters this year, but im kinda busy with school and work...LOL . i'm just excited to have this posted so i can have more discussion about it T_T
